Support Julie's Ministry to plant seeds in Japan

"I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but only God, who makes things grow." 1 Cor 3:6

Where and Whom to Plant Seeds

I will be serving at Oasis Chapel Christian Church in Rifu city, Miyagi prefecture for 3 years to plant seeds. This area was also heavily struck by the Tsunami in 2011. I had the opportunity to visit the church during my 3 month mission assignment last summer. When I was praying specifically for my role in Rifu Oasis Chapel, Romans 12:15 came up.

"Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn."

My heart for the Tohoku was always there ever since the Tsunami in 2011. And I seeked God to send me there many times but it wasn't until now, 6 years later, that God has called me to go. I wondered what I can do after 6 years has already gone by. City structure wise, many things has been rebuilt in that community. Many has gone back to their daily lives. But the scars from 6 years ago are still there. Not only in each individuals but also with the city itself. God has called me to be there to serve this community by being a presence of God's light. To mourn with those that are still mourning of the past. And to rejoice together in God's light and hope!

At Oasis Chapel Church, I will be involved with their new cafe ministry which has great potential to outreach into the community through providing a safe welcoming environment and English language class. For the younger children, I will be involved with the kid's chapel (Sunday school.) We are also discussing about being a older sister figure to lead the teens and young adults in a personal setting using my experience in youth and Japanese international student ministries.
